What Lies Within by , Book Summary:

Nothing’s going to stop Kyla… until the ground crumbles beneath her feet. Kyla Justice has arrived. Her company, Justice Construction, is one of the most critically acclaimed, commercially successful companies in the Pacific Northwest. And yet, something is missing. Not until she’s called on to build a center for inner-city kids does she realize what it is: her sense of purpose. Now nothing can stop her, not the low budget, not supply problems, not gang opposition, not her boyfriend’s suggestion that she sell her business and marry him–and most especially not that disagreeable Rafael Murphy. Rafe Murphy understands battle. Wounded in action, this Force Recon Marine carries the scars–and the nightmares–to prove it. Though he can’t fight overseas any longer, he’s found his place as a warrior in the civilian world. So he soldiers on, trusting that one of these days, God will reveal to him why Rafe survived the ambush in Iraq. That day has arrived. Kyla and Rafe both discover that determination alone won’t carry them through danger and challenges. When gang violence threatens their very foundations, there’s only one way to survive: rely on each other, be real–and surrender to God. In other words, risk everything…

Power of the Universe Lies Within You by PRADIPTA KUMAR DAS. Book Summary:

This book delves deep into the genesis and power of human thought. Human civilization has consistently grown over few millennia but the exponential growth during last few centuries of industrialization and particularly during the last half a century due to digital revolution can be attributed to one single phenomenon called Human Thought Processes. The idea of an acronym for Generation, Operation and Destruction (G-O-D) by human thought has a spiritual background based on Karmic Principles, argues the author in the book. The delicate balance in the brain chemicals that are responsible for harmonious thought processes can sometimes be severely derailed due to modern day anxiety and stress causing immense agonies leading to serious mental health problems. The author had a firsthand experience of such a mental health crisis in July 2000 while during his PhD study in Adelaide, Australia almost leading to a Near Death Experience which he not only survived but could convert the crisis into an opportunity to harvest immense knowledge and wisdom for self-growth. The author has adopted partly an autobiographical approach to put across ideas that he thinks can find some resonance with people struggling to overcome similar mental health problems in life. While researching into concepts of life after death, he raises few questions about the current understanding of human consciousness. The ultimate realization of the author that Humans are infinite spiritual beings in finite bodies has been systematically and logically brought out to enable a conviction that mental health problems are better handled with medico-spiritual practices. The title of the book suggests that to achieve happiness and bliss in life, human beings anywhere in this world need not search elsewhere because it is all there within. The author has outlined all the practical steps which helped him not only overcome his serious crisis but achieve his desired goals and thus sublime happiness. He strongly believes in the universal application of the principles enumerated.

Blindspot by Mahzarin R. Banaji,Anthony G. Greenwald Book Summary:

“Accessible and authoritative . . . While we may not have much power to eradicate our own prejudices, we can counteract them. The first step is to turn a hidden bias into a visible one. . . . What if we’re not the magnanimous people we think we are?”—The Washington Post I know my own mind. I am able to assess others in a fair and accurate way. These self-perceptions are challenged by leading psychologists Mahzarin R. Banaji and Anthony G. Greenwald as they explore the hidden biases we all carry from a lifetime of exposure to cultural attitudes about age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, social class, sexuality, disability status, and nationality. “Blindspot” is the authors’ metaphor for the portion of the mind that houses hidden biases. Writing with simplicity and verve, Banaji and Greenwald question the extent to which our perceptions of social groups—without our awareness or conscious control—shape our likes and dislikes and our judgments about people’s character, abilities, and potential. In Blindspot, the authors reveal hidden biases based on their experience with the Implicit Association Test, a method that has revolutionized the way scientists learn about the human mind and that gives us a glimpse into what lies within the metaphoric blindspot. The title’s “good people” are those of us who strive to align our behavior with our intentions. The aim of Blindspot is to explain the science in plain enough language to help well-intentioned people achieve that alignment. By gaining awareness, we can adapt beliefs and behavior and “outsmart the machine” in our heads so we can be fairer to those around us. Venturing into this book is an invitation to understand our own minds. Brilliant, authoritative, and utterly accessible, Blindspot is a book that will challenge and change readers for years to come. Praise for Blindspot “Conversational . . . easy to read, and best of all, it has the potential, at least, to change the way you think about yourself.”—Leonard Mlodinow, The New York Review of Books “Banaji and Greenwald deserve a major award for writing such a lively and engaging book that conveys an important message: Mental processes that we are not aware of can affect what we think and what we do. Blindspot is one of the most illuminating books ever written on this topic.”—Elizabeth F. Loftus, Ph.D., distinguished professor, University of California, Irvine; past president, Association for Psychological Science; author of Eyewitness Testimony

What Lies Within by Jessica Carrazco Book Summary:

The popular question that many of us can recall being asked as a child was "What do you want to be when you grow up?" The frame of mind that gave birth to this question was shaped in the garden of Eden, impressing upon man the need to become something in order to be somebody. Many of our answers hinged upon a perception that was created while we learned to compare ourselves to others. From that point on, lives have been spent searching and reaching outwardly, attempting to become rather than identifying, refining, and investing into that which is. If you want to obtain the confidence to walk out your purpose, experience life at its peak and reach the highest climax of destiny search to find what lies within and... Discover: - who you are; - your original purpose; and - what you're made of. Learn how to: - unlock your potential; - build yourself for greatness; and - overcome your greatest challenge. Develop a plan to: - create your future; - walk empowered; and - fulfill your vision.

Everyone in my village is crazy. They whisper behind my back about a brother I've never had. How can they all remember a boy who I know never existed? Sure, my nightmares are a little too vivid. The sight of blood terrifies me, but lots of people can't stand the stuff. There's nothing wrong with me. I'm totally sane. That's what I believed, at least. Until the night of the earthquake. Until I saw that broken corpse lying in the rubble. Until I met him.

The wise say what lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. The author uses the gift of language and poetry to dial into what lies within us. In this moving piece of work, every chapter ends with inspiring and motivational thoughts and quotes. Some of these quotable quotes are original thoughts of the writer, while others are borrowed from great thinkers such as Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Thomas Jefferson, William Tegum Gana, Dick Cavett, Abraham Maslow, Albeit Einstein, Warren Buffet and many more. Passionate Pearls symbolizes the writers inability to escape from poetry, his true gift in life. Amongst these poems is the "Journey to An African Village", a tantalizing commentary which will capture your attention and present you with an exciting window to experience this subsistent, tropical, and serene lifestyle. The Mystery of Tegum is a moving rendition of the authors father, the Abraham of his life. It is a tribute to a man who was unique in every way, special to all he encountered, treasured through the fruits of his vision and loving memories which stack up to the heavens. Nelson Mandela is a deserving poetic ode to a tower of humanity. This well crafted piece will give you a glimpse of the sacrifices that led to the birth of the present Nation of South Africa. Love, relationships, and their intertwined complexities are addressed in a myriad of poems which range from My Childhood Sweetheart, Genie in the Bottle, The Vengeance of His Past, A Painful Journey from Love through Impatience to Divorce, The Witch Doctors Loving Curse, Sweet Thoughts of Sarah and many others which will leave you asking for more. The rhythm in the works, the transformation of words into exquisite literary gems of pleasure, and the passion embedded in the poems tells of a well polished and distinguished writer. At the embryonic concept of a thought, the writer goes into a mental trance of creativity and emerges with colorful butterflies of linguistic flare. He blends his own experiences, his keen observations as well as the beauty of his imagination to create masterpieces which will leave you asking for more.
