The Guest Book by Sarah Blake Book Summary:

Instant New York Times Bestseller “The Guest Book is monumental in a way that few novels dare attempt.” —The Washington Post The thought-provoking new novel by New York Times bestselling author Sarah Blake A lifetime of secrets. A history untold. No. It is a simple word, uttered on a summer porch in 1936. And it will haunt Kitty Milton for the rest of her life. Kitty and her husband, Ogden, are both from families considered the backbone of the country. But this refusal will come to be Kitty’s defining moment, and its consequences will ripple through the Milton family for generations. For while they summer on their island in Maine, anchored as they are to the way things have always been, the winds of change are beginning to stir. In 1959 New York City, two strangers enter the Miltons’ circle. One captures the attention of Kitty’s daughter, while the other makes each of them question what the family stands for. This new generation insists the times are changing. And in one night, everything does. So much so that in the present day, the third generation of Miltons doesn’t have enough money to keep the island in Maine. Evie Milton’s mother has just died, and as Evie digs into her mother’s and grandparents’ history, what she finds is a story as unsettling as it is inescapable, the story that threatens the foundation of the Milton family myth. Moving through three generations and back and forth in time, The Guest Book asks how we remember and what we choose to forget. It shows the untold secrets we inherit and pass on, unknowingly echoing our parents and grandparents. Sarah Blake’s triumphant novel tells the story of a family and a country that buries its past in quiet, until the present calls forth a reckoning.

The Guest Book by Sarah Blake Book Summary:

A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER 'Powerful and provocative' Paula McLain 'Beautiful, engrossing, heart-breaking' Rachel Rhys 'Monumental in a way that few novels dare attempt' Washington Post The Miltons are a powerful old New York family - the kind of family that used to run the world. And in 1935, they still do. Kitty and Ogden Milton seem to have it all: an elegant apartment on the Upper East Side, two beautiful little boys, a love everyone envies. When a tragedy befalls them, Ogden comforts Kitty the only way he knows how - they go sailing, picnic on a small island off the coast of Maine, and buy it. For generations the Miltons of Crockett Island revel in a place that is entirely their own. But it's 1959, and the world is changing: Ogden's firm hire a Jewish man, Len Levy, who earns the admiration of not only his boss, but his boss's beautiful young daughter. When Len and his friend visit the island, the Milton's principles and prejudices are challenged like never before. At the dawn of the 21st century, the family money has run dry, and the island is up for sale. Returning for one last visit, Kitty's granddaughter uncovers disturbing evidence about her family's wealth - and realizes she is on the verge of finally understanding the silences that seemed to hover just below the surface of her family all her life. 'Thought-provoking and propulsive...Welcome to old money, new heartbreak and big secrets' New York Times Book Review

The Guest Book by Anon Book Summary:

WELCOME TO THE ANCHORAGE, FOR A HONEYMOON YOU'LL NEVER FORGET . . . C. L. Pattison, bestselling author of THE HOUSEMATE, returns with THE GUEST BOOK: a haunting psychological thriller for fans of Louise Jensen and Jane Corry. Charles and Grace wanted a quiet staycation honeymoon, but when their train terminates early due to a storm up ahead, they wonder if they made the wrong decision. Forced to take shelter in the nearest seaside town, Saltwater, they discover their fellow passengers have filled all the recommended B&Bs to the brim. There is only one guesthouse left. Unlike the rest of Saltwater, The Anchorage is entirely deserted. That night, with the storm howling relentlessly, Grace is woken by a child crying. She is haunted by the sound, until Charles convinces her it was only her imagination. But the next day, she finds a warning scrawled in the guest book: Leave now. Do not trust them. As the storm rages on, days go by and phone lines are down, transport links cut off. Grace is desperate to leave, but Charles remains unaffected by the eerie stillness of the house. Is it just Grace's imagination or do the owners, and Charles, have something to hide? THANK YOU FOR STAYING AT THE ANCHORAGE. WE HOPE YOU'LL BE BACK SOON...

The Last by Hanna Jameson Book Summary:

For fans of high-concept thrillers such as Annihilation and The Girl with All the Gifts, this breathtaking dystopian psychological thriller follows an American academic stranded at a Swiss hotel as the world descends into nuclear war—along with twenty other survivors—who becomes obsessed with identifying a murderer in their midst after the body of a young girl is discovered in one of the hotel’s water tanks. Jon thought he had all the time in the world to respond to his wife’s text message: I miss you so much. I feel bad about how we left it. Love you. But as he’s waiting in the lobby of the L’Hotel Sixieme in Switzerland after an academic conference, still mulling over how to respond to his wife, he receives a string of horrifying push notifications. Washington, DC has been hit with a nuclear bomb, then New York, then London, and finally Berlin. That’s all he knows before news outlets and social media goes black—and before the clouds on the horizon turn orange. Now, two months later, there are twenty survivors holed up at the hotel, a place already tainted by its strange history of suicides and murders. Those who can’t bear to stay commit suicide or wander off into the woods. Jon and the others try to maintain some semblance of civilization. But when the water pressure disappears, and Jon and a crew of survivors investigate the hotel’s water tanks, they are shocked to discover the body of a young girl. As supplies dwindle and tensions rise, Jon becomes obsessed with investigating the death of the little girl as a way to cling to his own humanity. Yet the real question remains: can he afford to lose his mind in this hotel, or should he take his chances in the outside world?

Wedding Guest Book

The Guest Book [Pdf/ePub] eBook

Wedding Guest Book by Lisa Smith Book Summary:

Not all Wedding Guest Books are created equal. Guest Book Girl created a big guest book designed with large print, 100 pages, 900 signature/note lines, and an 8 1⁄2 x 11 book size. After realizing there wasn't a rule for guest books requiring tiny fonts, thin signature lines and petite dimensions I decided to create a guest book with larger fonts, roomier signature lines and a larger book size. Thus, making it easier for guests to figure out which side is for their name and which side is for their note. Plus, with the larger book size it is less likely to get misplaced or lost. How many times have we heard a voice call out during a gathering, "Has anyone seen the guest book?" With its generous size this book will be difficult to miss, and guests will unlikely accidentally make off with it in their pocket or purse! Enjoy your event, your wonderful guests and this large print guest book for years to come!

Line Lost Limericks

The Guest Book [Pdf/ePub] eBook

Line Lost Limericks by Fred Woodward Book Summary:

From the INTRODUCTION. Charles Morris, in his English Dictionary, defines a limerick as "a verse consisting of five lines, of which the fifth is left blank, to be supplied by competitors. It must rhyme with the first two lines." The limerick is a form of verse which suits a very happy mood. Unfitted to the solitary, a good limerick must be laughed at and laughed over. The quip is in the final line and should be a brilliant bit of repartee or a witty turn of the original subject into an absurdity. The alert mind will be quick to perceive the possibilities, not only of temporary enjoyment but of real literary pleasure of a high order, as friends attempt and succeed in supplying suitable last lines for the following limericks. In the back of the book are printed the last lines of each limerick, but the guest who autographs the volume should supply an original line without referring to this index. When filled with the names of contributors of "lost" lines, the volume becomes an interesting and amusing autograph album, which may be doubly dear because of treasured memories. An evening of pleasure may be had by giving a "Limerick Party/' The hostess furnishes each guest with a sheet of paper on which has been copied a certain number of "Line Lost Limericks." The guests without assistance or conferring with one another supply a final line for each limerick. The slips are then signed, collected, and read aloud. If so desired, prizes may be given for the best sets of completed limericks. Further amusement may be obtained if the hostess then reads aloud the entire limerick including the last line as given in the index.

The Guest by Hwang Sok-Yong Book Summary:

Based on actual events, The Guest is a profound portrait of a divided people haunted by a painful past, and a generation's search for reconciliation. During the Korean War, Hwanghae Province in North Korea was the setting of a gruesome fifty-two day massacre. In an act of collective amnesia the atrocities were attributed to American military, but in truth they resulted from malicious battling between Christian and Communist Koreans. Forty years later, Ryu Yosop, a minister living in America returns to his home village, where his older brother once played a notorious role in the bloodshed. Besieged by vivid memories and visited by the troubled spirits of the deceased, Yosop must face the survivors of the tragedy and lay his brother's soul to rest.
