The Dreamers by , Book Summary:

A strange illness induces sleep and heightens dreams in an isolated college town, transforming the lives of ordinary people, in this mesmerizing novel by the New York Times bestselling author of The Age of Miracles. A college girl tells her friends that she's feeling strangely tired. The next morning, when they find her in bed, she is still breathing--but she won't wake up. Within a few days, another student, down the hallway, won't wake up. As the sleeping sickness spreads, the town is turned upside down. We meet Ben and Annie, a young couple determined to keep their newborn baby safe; Sara and Libby, whose survivalist father has long prepared for disaster; Mei and Matthew, and other college students. A quarantine is established, the national guard is summoned. Yet, those who have fallen asleep are showing unusual patterns of brain activity. More than has ever been recorded in any brain--asleep or awake. They are dreaming--but of what? With gorgeous prose and heart-stopping emotion, The Dreamers startles and provokes about the possibilities contained within a human life, when we are awake and, perhaps even more, when we are dreaming.

Il Sung Na creates a world at once whimsical and aspirational, where anything is possible and, yes, even pigs can learn to fly.

Awakening the Dreamer by Philip M. Bromberg Book Summary:

In Awakening the Dreamer: Clinical Journeys, Philip Bromberg continues the illuminating explorations into dissociation and clinical process begun in Standing in the Spaces (1998). Bromberg is among our most gifted clinical writers, especially in his unique ability to record peripheral variations in relatedness - those subtle, split-second changes that capture the powerful workings of dissociation and chart the changing self-states that analyst and patient bring to the moment. For Bromberg, a model of mind premised on the centrality of self-states and dissociation not only offers the optimal lens for comprehending and interpreting clinical data; it also provides maximum leverage for achieving true intersubjective relatedness. And this manner of looking at clinical data offers the best vantage point for integrating psychoanalytic experience with the burgeoning findings of contemporary neuroscience, cognitive and developmental psychology, and attachment research. Dreams are approached not as texts in need of deciphering but as means of contacting genuine but not yet fully conscious self-states. From here, he explores how the patient's "dreamer" and the analyst's "dreamer" can come together to turn the "real" into the "really real" of mutative therapeutic dialogue. The "difficult," frequently traumatized patient is newly appraised in terms of tensions within the therapeutic dyad. And then there is the "haunted" patient who carries a sense of preordained doom through years of otherwise productive work - until the analyst can finally feel the patient's doom as his or her own. Laced with Bromberg's characteristic honesty, humor, and thoughtfulness, these essays elegantly attest to the mind's reliance on dissociation, in both normal and pathological variants, in the ongoing effort to maintain self-organization. Awakening the Dreamer, no less than Standing in the Spaces, is destined to become a permanent part of the literature on therapeutic process and change.

He listens and follows as it leads him under the canopy of the lush rain forest, into the fearsome sea, and through the persistent Chilean rain on an inspiring voyage of self-discovery that will transform his life and, ultimately, the world. Combining elements of magical realism with biography, poetry, literary fiction, and transporting illustrations, Pam Muñoz Ryan and Peter Sís take readers on a rare journey of the heart and imagination as they explore the inspiring early life of the poet who became Pablo Neruda.

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor Book Summary:

From National Book Award finalist Laini Taylor comes an epic fantasy about a mythic lost city and its dark past. The dream chooses the dreamer, not the other way around--and Lazlo Strange, war orphan and junior librarian, has always feared that his dream chose poorly. Since he was just five years old, he's been obsessed with the mythic lost city of Weep, but it would take someone bolder than he to cross half the world in search of it. Then a stunning opportunity presents itself, in the form of a hero called the Godslayer and a band of legendary warriors, and he has to seize his chance or lose his dream forever. What happened in Weep two hundred years ago to cut it off from the rest of the world? And who is the blue-skinned goddess who appears in Lazlo's dreams? In this sweeping and breathtaking novel by National Book Award finalist Laini Taylor, author of the New York Times bestselling Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy, the shadow of the past is as real as the ghosts who haunt the citadel of murdered gods. Fall into a mythical world of dread and wonder, moths and nightmares, love and carnage. The answers await in Weep.

Who Is the Dreamer, Who Dreams the Dream? by James S. Grotstein Book Summary:

In Who Is the Dreamer Who Dreams the Dream? A Study of Psychic Presences, James Grotstein integrates some of his most important work of recent years in addressing fundamental questions of human psychology and spirituality. He explores two quintessential and interrelated psychoanalytic problems: the nature of the unconscious mind and the meaning and inner structure of human subjectivity. To this end, he teases apart the complex, tangled threads that constitute self-experience, delineating psychic presences and mystifying dualities, subjects with varying perspectives and functions, and objects with different, often phantasmagoric properties. Whether he is expounding on the Unconscious as a range of dimensions understandable in terms of nonlinear concepts of chaos, complexity, and emergence theory; modifying the psychoanalytic concept of psychic determinism by joining it to the concept of autochthony; comparing Melanie Klein's notion of the archaic Oedipus complex with the ancient Greek myth of the labyrinth and the Minotaur; or examining the relationship between the stories of Oedipus and Christ, Grotstein emerges as an analyst whose clinical sensibility has been profoundly deepened by his scholarly use of mythology, classical thought, and contemporary philosophy. The result is both an important synthesis of major currents of contemporary psychoanalytic thought and a moving exploration of the nature of human suffering and spirituality.

Dreamers by Yuyi Morales Book Summary:

We are resilience. We are hope. We are dreamers. Yuyi Morales brought her hopes, her passion, her strength, and her stories with her, when she came to the United States in 1994 with her infant son. She left behind nearly everything she owned, but she didn't come empty-handed. Dreamers is a celebration of making your home with the things you always carry: your resilience, your dreams, your hopes and history. It's the story of finding your way in a new place, of navigating an unfamiliar world and finding the best parts of it. In dark times, it's a promise that you can make better tomorrows. This lovingly-illustrated picture book memoir looks at the myriad gifts migrantes bring with them when they leave their homes. It's a story about family. And it's a story to remind us that we are all dreamers, bringing our own strengths wherever we roam. Beautiful and powerful at any time but given particular urgency as the status of our own Dreamers becomes uncertain, this is a story that is both topical and timeless. The lyrical text is complemented by sumptuously detailed illustrations, rich in symbolism. Also included are a brief autobiographical essay about Yuyi's own experience, a list of books that inspired her (and still do), and a description of the beautiful images, textures, and mementos she used to create this book. A parallel Spanish-language edition, Soñadores, is also available. Winner of the Pura Belpré Illustrator Award! Acair of Ceangail, still dodging his reputation as a notorious black mage, has undertaken the ultimate quest: ridding the world of a mysterious, terrible dark magic while using no magic of his own. But he never bargained for three maddening complications: attempting to safeguard his beautiful but horse-obsessed companion, Léirsinn; trying not to slay a profoundly irritating prince of Neroche; and slipping in and out of places he knows will spell his doom if he’s caught. Léirsinn of Sàraichte simply wants to do what needs to be done—find the makers of various spells and rescue her grandfather. But walking side by side with Acair brings a terrible revelation about the magic she needs, and what its price will exact from her soul. Together, Acair and Léirsinn face danger they never could have imagined, culminating in choices that will alter them and the history of the Nine Kingdoms forever.

The Dreamer by Cliff Richard Book Summary:

'Before Cliff Richard and the Shadows, there was nothing worth listening to in British music.' - John Lennon. Cliff Richard tells his story, in his own words, in his highly anticipated new autobiography. Achieving a hit in every decade since the 1950s, Cliff Richard stands alone in pop history. Coming of age in 1950s London, he began his music career at Soho's legendary 2i's Cafe, and now he's approaching his 80th birthday with record sales of over 250m and counting. Cliff Richard was a pioneer, forging the way for British rock 'n' roll with his unique sound. The original British teen idol, his incredible story takes us into the studio of TV's first pop show Oh Boy!, through 40 years of Top of the Pops, and playing live up and down the country and across the world, with a constant backdrop of screaming fans. Cliff looks back on his humble upbringing, and how he went on to fulfil his wildest dreams by becoming a pop star and even a film star. He talks about finding Christianity, reflects on the ups and downs of life in the public eye, and reveals how the false allegations against him changed his life forever. He's seen era-defining pop stars come and go, and he's still making new music, with a new project to be released this year. As a teenage Elvis-fan in Cheshunt, this may have seem a distant dream. Here's his story of how he made it all happen.

The Dreamer by Eric Overton Book Summary:

The Dreamer Trilogy series is based on five different styles of writing. Being a new author, I wanted to test my writing abilities by creating five creative stories. The most important is to give the readers something outside the box. Characters are fictional, but each book has its deeper-than-life written message. The Dreamer is the first book of The Dreamer Trilogy series. In the book called The Dreamer, a teenager is able to transfer into the flesh of any human being he desires, but the consequence is greater than the gift. This is one dream the world will never awake from until the nightmares become reality. Mystery and spirituality are written in the ink of a gift and a curse. American Made is on street life and growing up in poor conditions of the ghettos, where making fatal decisions can end your life quicker than the eye can blink or will determine how long this youth will live under the blue skies by being the product that is American made. The Mirror begins with a thriller, gore, and suspense written in the darkest form of life. Bloody Mary reveals the untold truth behind the bloodstained glass made alive by a reflected soul made weary, only to seek endless revenge. The Dead Girl short story is based on the forgotten, missing, and lost girls walking the streets at night as the human vultures fly above their heads, ready to pluck their souls to death under nakedness but not so pure to bewildered dead girls in the hands of a psychopathic killer with his own underground prison. Some things are worse than death when the steel doors close from the world. The last and final short story is based on slaverybut reversed. The blacks are the slave masters, and the Caucasians are the white slaves. Two best friends will have to endure mental and physical ordeal during slavery by being human properties to black slavers, but survival might not be an option for them. After reading The Dreamer Trilogy Series, readers will witness the birth of endless ink. Each short story has its own meaning, knowledge, and definition about existence or nonexistence of worldly life. Enter The Dreamer . . . King Poetic is a street book, the poems are raw and 90 percent real. My book of poems deal with worldly issues. My life is filled within the pages of life. I have been through a lot in my life, so I want to share my knowledge to the entire world. This book is not like other poetry books out! Each page will open your eyes and educate as well.

The Dreamer by Ursula Frank-Pegg Book Summary:

The most valuable of all dreams, which offers us a chance to avoid trouble, is almost as upsetting as the haunting version that finds us panting, scared, trying "to outrun danger." However, it is not fear we feel, but outrage. We feel a tremendous amount of desperation spilling over into the waking state. What we have dreamed is nothing we can brush off, explain away as another nightmare. The uneasy question remains, why we felt such over¬powering desperation and anger in a dream directed at a specific person, why we let it out in one large outcry of righteous indignation. We remember having been seized by a powerful surge of outrage. Completely unable to contain it, we made a spectacle of ourselves. We had a fit and did not give a hoot that we exploded right in front of someone who should impress us with his title, his knowledge, his "pious" demeanor, obviously with his status above ours. And here is the difference: the object of our outburst is identified. Somehow we didn't give a damn, who it is. We shouldn't have, for the person who is at the center of our agitation, is our adversary and, in some cases, possibly a deadly one. Our subconscious uses the dream route to give us a warning. We have exploded, let fly, for a good reason. Enough anger for two is boiling over, because of our own part in all this — if we were not so gullible, so ignorant, so besotted, all of this would not have happened. The detestable creature we are facing is at the bottom of our woes. With such a dream, our subconscious is trying to impress us with a most urgent message. It is attempting to wean us, to get us away from the influence of a person who is about to screw us — literally or symbolically so. Either way we will have to pay, if we don't heed a most urgent message: our own outcry of indignation. If we are allowing it to happen. This guy is trying to finagle us into a business deal, and we go along, while our subconscious cries foul. This shady businessman has already lost his shirt, and he knows it, but we don't realize he is just trying to fleece a few more sheep. We are not aware what we are letting ourselves in for, but our subconscious has already shown us the dramatic results. It has done the screening for us. Unless we reverse course, take an alternate route, grind to a stop, this guy with his clean-cut exterior we have been hankering for, is going to give us the case of herpes we have eluded so far. The book "The Dreamer" is based on more than a 20 year period of recorded dreams and the way they affected me and my family. it makes a distinction between different types of dreams - many of them undoubtedly familiar to the reader. Through repetition as well as intuition I can share with the reader the outreach of precognitive dreams. reaching out into a distant future of ten to more years. Understanding our dreams can help and protect us. let this book inspire you to start a record of your dreams and gradually understand their message.
