To Have and to Hold

Hold Pdf [Pdf/ePub] eBook

To Have and to Hold by Philip L. Reynolds,John Witte Book Summary:

This 2007 book analyzes how, why, and when pre-modern Europeans documented their marriages - through property deeds, marital settlements, dotal charters, church court depositions, wedding liturgies, and other indicia of marital consent. The authors consider both the function of documentation in the process of marrying and what the surviving documents say about pre-modern marriage and how people in the day understood it. Drawing on archival evidence from classical Rome, medieval France, England, Iceland, and Ireland, and Renaissance Florence, Douai, and Geneva, the volume provides a rich interdisciplinary analysis of the range of marital customs, laws, and practices in Western Christendom. The chapters include freshly translated specimen documents that bring the reader closer to the actual practice of marrying than the normative literature of pre-modern theology and canon law.

Dear Aspiring Poker Tournament Winner, Do you regularly play in No-Limit Hold'em tournaments? Do you want to get to the final table more often? Then this book is for you! $10,000 TV tournaments that last for days require very different winning strategies than much faster paced tournaments that last for hours. A few savvy players know that small tournaments can be fun and profitable if you know exactly how to play them. Hand-by-hand, I will reveal why these players make more than their fair share of final tables--and how you can join them. You'll learn: • How to win despite a run of bad cards • How to assess good-value tournaments and avoid bad ones • How to play when you are short-stacked • How to build a big stack and use your chips as a weapon • The vital importance of position in tournament play • When and how to change pace as the blinds and antes increase Some of the conventional advice about tournament play is just plain wrong. Success requires more than a desperate attempt to survive and wait for big cards. So if you want a chance to feel the thrill of a big payday at your next tournament, buy this book now! I'll see you at the final table.

Some of the other ideas discussed include play on the first two cards, semibluffing, the free card, inducing bluffs, staying with a draw, playing when a pair flops, playing trash hands, desperation bets, playing in wild games, reading hands, and psychology.

Protecting Chips Against Hold Time Violations Due to Variability

Hold Pdf [Pdf/ePub] eBook

Protecting Chips Against Hold Time Violations Due to Variability by Gustavo Neuberger,Gilson Wirth,Ricardo Reis Book Summary:

With the development of Very-Deep Sub-Micron technologies, process variability is becoming increasingly important and is a very important issue in the design of complex circuits. Process variability is the statistical variation of process parameters, meaning that these parameters do not have always the same value, but become a random variable, with a given mean value and standard deviation. This effect can lead to several issues in digital circuit design. The logical consequence of this parameter variation is that circuit characteristics, as delay and power, also become random variables. Because of the delay variability, not all circuits will now have the same performance, but some will be faster and some slower. However, the slowest circuits may be so slow that they will not be appropriate for sale. On the other hand, the fastest circuits that could be sold for a higher price can be very leaky, and also not very appropriate for sale. A main consequence of power variability is that the power consumption of some circuits will be different than expected, reducing reliability, average life expectancy and warranty of products. Sometimes the circuits will not work at all, due to reasons associated with process variations. At the end, these effects result in lower yield and lower profitability. To understand these effects, it is necessary to study the consequences of variability in several aspects of circuit design, like logic gates, storage elements, clock distribution, and any other that can be affected by process variations. The main focus of this book will be storage elements.
