Food Full of Life

Food Full Of Life [Pdf/ePub] eBook

Food Full of Life by Gill Bacchus Book Summary:

Is organic and biodynamic food worth the higher price consumers often pay? Which aspects of us are nourished by the food we eat? How can different methods of growing and cooking food best preserve the life energies in our food? In recent years there has been a growing awareness of the quality of the food we eat, allied to a mistrust of many aspects of large-scale 'agri-industry'. In response to these concerns, many consumers turned towards buying organic or biodynamic produce. Our current financial climate makes those buying decisions difficult for many people. Organic food is often more expensive, and tests by conventional scientists claim to show that is has no extra nutritional value. This book questions whether these claims have any basis. Gill Bacchus concludes that modern scientific methods simply cannot reveal or measure the true life processes that give quality to our food. Exploring ideas from organics and Rudolf Steiner's biodynamics, the author discusses how the Earth's formative energies, especially sunlight, are essential to the healthy life of plants and animals. The living energy in our food is either enhanced or destroyed by our chosen methods of farming, processing and cooking. She argues that the health not only of our bodies, but also of our consciousness, thinking and emotions, depends on nourishing ourselves wisely, and gives advice on how we can learn to find and choose food that is 'full of life and light'.

Living Green with Smoothies and the Culture of Life

Food Full Of Life [Pdf/ePub] eBook

Living Green with Smoothies and the Culture of Life by James C. Tibbetts Book Summary:

This book covers green smoothies, detoxification healing methods, health and healing with chlorophyll foods, the alkaline body, oxygen and related topics. Optimum health and curing is possible through this Living Nutrition, but it is hard work and takes discipline. Our food choices and the way we lead our lives are both the cause and effect of our diet and lifestyle. Our choices reflect the state of harmony with oneself, the world, all of creation, and the Divine. It involves choosing between the "Culture of Life" and the "Culture of Death." This is a pilgrimage from one plateau to another on the Lord's mountain; it is for those desiring to be healthy, happy, and holy in their body, soul and spirit. Jesus said in the beginning of his ministry; "Purify Thyself (or Repent), for the Kingdom of God is at hand!" Biblical Nutrition and Spiritual Nutrition are also explained in this work.

The Flower Lover follows Richard Garcia as he looks into the disappearance of a rare, cultivated, orchid. Garcia's queries lead him to uncover a clandestine group that is selling weapons illegally. Thematically, The Flower Lover covers the tacit approval of government and duplicity of multinational corporations in destabilizing third world nations. There is a desire within us all to be heroic. We say we must be valiant but shirk the responsibility before the magnitude of the task. Not Richard Garcia. He has foibles, but idealism drives him to ferret out corruption. Writing from the perspective of an archaeologist, Jones answers questions raised by her archaeological research using original ethnographic data and material culture associated women and fishing, the intersection that forms the basis of the subsistence economy on Nayau. She focuses on food procurement on the reef, domestic activities surrounding foodways, and household spatial patterns to explore the meaning of food amongst the Lau Group of Fiji beyond the obvious nutritional and ecological spheres. Jones presents her findings alongside original archaeological data, demonstrating that it is possible to illuminate contemporary food-related social issues through historical homology and comparison with the lifeways of the Lauan people. Offering a comprehensive and rigorous example of ethnoarchaeology at work, this book has major implications for archaeological interpretations of foodways, gender, identity, and social organization in the Pacific Islands and beyond.
