THE SIMPLE BOOK

Fire From The Midst Of You [Pdf/ePub] eBook

THE SIMPLE BOOK by Walter R. Arnold Book Summary:

I was raised in Essexville, Michigan, with my two brothers and two sisters. My exposure to Christianity was because of my mother, who took us to a Community Baptist church most Sundays. When I was eleven years of age, I heard a clear voice say that He would give me until I’m thirty-five. There was no one around, so I thought my mind was playing tricks on me. Years later, as I approached the age of thirty-five, it seemed that everywhere I went, someone was sharing the Gospel with me. I listened to what they said, but I thought I was already a believer, since my wife and I went to church almost every Sunday. I started to read the Bible, beginning at page one. Many days later, as I read in the book of Isaiah, Jesus Christ became alive, and then I could understand the Scriptures. I was thirty-five at that time, and then God reminded me of the experience I had at the age of eleven! The years that followed included the activity of various offices within the church, and different cabinet positions in the Gideon’s International organization. I pray that God will use this book to strengthen the believers and assist others to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Eden’s Bridge

Fire From The Midst Of You [Pdf/ePub] eBook

Eden’s Bridge by David B. Doty Book Summary:

Eden's Bridge: The Marketplace in Creation and Mission explores a biblically based theology of the marketplace implicit in the creation narrative of Genesis 1-2. The thesis validates the calling and ministry of all marketplace Christians. David Doty invites readers to rethink and redirect the purposes of vocation, trade, and profit toward the purposes of God's Kingdom, as they were revealed in the beginning and are to be restored in Christ's reign. This book is eye-opening and inviting as it explores how God is moving to reclaim the marketplace for His Kingdom, and His redeeming purposes for the world of commerce. The marketplace holds untold potential if business is conducted according to God's plan: poverty can be eradicated, abundant living can be shared among all people, and shalom can prevail. Eden's Bridge offers hope for recovering from the recent collapse of the global economic system by envisioning a new view of how wealth is made and how the marketplace is yet to serve God's purposes in His mission to the world.

Holy Bible Recovery Version

Fire From The Midst Of You [Pdf/ePub] eBook

Holy Bible Recovery Version by Living Stream Ministry Book Summary:

Throughout the centuries, translations of the Bible have steadily improved. In general, each new translation inherits from previous ones and opens the way for later ones. While a new translation derives help from its predecessors, it should go further. The Recovery Version of the New Testament, following the precedent set by the major authoritative English versions and taking these versions as reference, not only incorporates lessons learned from an examination of others’ practices but also attempts to avoid biases and inaccurate judgments. This version, frequently guided by other versions, attempts to provide the best utterance for the revelation in the divine Word, that it may be expressed in the English language with the greatest accuracy. Translating the Bible depends not only on an adequate comprehension of the original language but also on a proper understanding of the divine revelation in the holy Word. Throughout the centuries the understanding of the divine revelation possessed by the saints has always been based upon the light they received, and this understanding has progressed steadily. The consummation of this understanding forms the basis of this translation and its footnotes. Hence, this translation and the accompanying footnotes could be called the “crystallization” of the understanding of the divine revelation which the saints everywhere have attained to in the past two thousand years. It is our hope that the Recovery Version will carry on the heritage that it has received and will pave the way for future generations. As with any New Testament translation, the determination of the original Greek text, based upon the available manuscripts, forms the basis for the text of the Recovery Version of the New Testament. The Recovery Version follows, for the most part, the Nestle-Aland Greek text as found in Novum Testamentum Graece (26th edition). However, in determining the original form of any verse, the translators of the Recovery Version gave careful consideration to the larger context of chapter and book and to similar portions of the New Testament. The most recently discovered manuscripts or the manuscripts of oldest date are not necessarily the most accurate or reliable; hence, the determination of the text for this version was based largely upon the principle stated above. Departures from the Nestle-Aland text are sometimes indicated in the footnotes. Italicized words in the verses indicate supplied words, not found in the Greek text. Quotation marks are used to indicate close quotation from the Old Testament. The Recovery Version embodies extensive research into the meaning of the original text and attempts to express this meaning with English that is to the point, easy to understand, and readable. In those places where it is difficult to express the exact meaning of the original Greek, explanatory footnotes have been supplied. The subject provided at the beginning of each book and the outline of each book take the historical facts as their base and express the spiritual meaning in each book. The footnotes stress the revelation of the truth, the spiritual light, and the supply of life more than history, geography, and persons. The cross-references lead not only to other verses with the same expressions and facts but also to other matters related to the spiritual revelation in the divine Word.

United States Foreign Policy and the Prospects for Peace Education

Fire From The Midst Of You [Pdf/ePub] eBook

United States Foreign Policy and the Prospects for Peace Education by Carl Mirra Book Summary:

In light of the United States' "age of terrorism" and the controversial involvement in the war in Iraq, U.S. policies toward diplomatic peace education are coming under increasing scrutiny. This book evaluates the prospects for effective U.S. peace education in the context of post-1945 U.S. foreign policy. The work first documents the disparity between U.S. pronouncements about protecting human rights and the country's systematic erosion of those rights in the international arena. Second, it evaluates the challenges that the war on terrorism poses for peace education and explores the importance of international treaties in upholding security. A final section explores new ways of thinking and relating that are ultimately necessary for the realization of nonviolent peacekeeping efforts. Designed as a resource text for U.S. educators, the text offers concrete proposals for addressing contentious foreign policy issues in the classroom and includes an appendix of primary documents and sample questions for easy use.

Caribbean Ghostwriting

Fire From The Midst Of You [Pdf/ePub] eBook

Caribbean Ghostwriting by Erica L. Johnson Book Summary:

Caribbean Ghostwriting addresses a question central to the fields of postcolonial, feminist, and African diasporic studies: how are we to know the colonial past when the lives of colonized and enslaved people were largely written out of history? Caribbean authors Michelle Cliff, Maryse Conde, and Dionne Brand address the silences and gaps of historiography by fleshing out overlooked historical figures in literary form. These authors do not simply reconstruct lost lives, but rather they foreground the tension between the real, material traces of people's lives and the fact of their erasure. In novels that are at once historical, biographical, and artistic, they portray real but sparsely documented and therefore haunting histories through a strategy identifiable as "ghostwriting." Erica L. Johnson defines ghostwriting as an important genre of Caribbean literature through which authors literally ghostwrite stories for lost historical figures even while they poetically preserve the unspeakable nature of the archival lacunae their novels engage. Erica L. Johnson teaches world literature at Wagner College.

Out of the Midst of the Fire

Fire From The Midst Of You [Pdf/ePub] eBook

Out of the Midst of the Fire by Ian Wilson Book Summary:

"This work challenges the widely-held assumption that Deuteronomy so emphasizes God's transcendence that it excludes divine immanence in the earthly sphere. It does so by examining a number of possible references to God's Presence in both the historical and legal sections of the book and concludes that the Deity is portrayed as bing present not only in heaven but also in battle, on the mountain (Horeb), and at the "chosen place." The author questions the view, popularized by von Rad, that in Deteronomy it is "not Yahweh himself who is present at the shrine, but only his name, " and succeeds in focusing attention on data relevant to the location of divine Presence in Deteronomy which has hitherto been consigned to the margins of the debate"--Page 4 of cover.

The Aramaic and Palestinian Targum

Fire From The Midst Of You [Pdf/ePub] eBook

The Aramaic and Palestinian Targum by Zen Garcia Book Summary:

Targum meaning translation references the various language transliterations of the original Hebrew Torah, which came about according to need. The Aramaic and Palestinian versions printed here are acknowledged to be the oldest and most widely used renderings of the ancient language translations of the original Hebrew Torah. Though they are accepted to date back to at least the first century CE, I believe them to be half a millennia older as they first came into being to accommodate the Israelite's assimilation of Aramaic when exiled to Babylon in 597 BCE. It was during the 70 years of that diaspora that Aramaic became the predominant colloquial language and accepted vernacular of use by the Hebraic peoples. During this 70 years of assimilation, the Israelite's use of Hebrew as lexicon dwindled from being the primary dialect of everyday conversation, to being one of mostly scholastic application utilized intellectually by the priestly class.
