This Is Dedicated to the Ones I Love and the Ones I Thought Loved Me! by Paulette G. Cohen "inspiration" Book Summary:

This Is Dedicated to the Ones I Love and the Ones I Thought Loved Me is a book about the authors relationships, spoken through poetry. It is about romance, friendship, children, and most of all, her relationship with God! Sultry, sexy, moving, and hurt describes how she felt during her time with certain people. This book hits home for many readers who have similar situations going on in their lives, same as the author. The book has many parts introducing another chapter of love or pain spoken through her heart in the form of poetry. This is not an average book of words; this book speaks life into the dead. Fall in love just hearing some of the poems, or walk away feeling guilty if one of them applies to you. No matter what, pure excitement is how you feel as her words speak back to you.

The Phases of Love by Shah Asad Rizvi Book Summary:

The Phases of Love is a unique and sublime collection of poems by Shah Asad Rizvi. Dedicated to love in its entirety, Shah weaves and outlines the heart's journey that is at the very soul of all humanity. Shah's collection of poetry reads like a roadmap of the heart and soul from the splendor and magic of new love to heartache and broken-heartedness to healing and growth. Divided into four stages, this rare and exceptional collection of verse contains 200 poems that pay homage to the heart's truest emotion like no other collection before it has. Be prepared to have your heart touched, and soul laid bare as you are consumed by the words and the turning of the pages. You will be reminded of the excitement of new love in all its glory and magnificence. Feel the closeness and completeness of bonding, the suffering and anguish of hurting, and the sunlight and acceptance of healing. From the first poem to the last, Shah reserves no emotion as he delivers a truly exceptional analysis of all that is love. The most remarkable aspect of this collection is that The Phases of Love allows the reader to travel next to Shah as he takes you with him through each section of the heart's journey. It is as though Shah has welcomed you into his homeland and offered you a tour that only a true native can provide. His perceptions and understanding of love are born from a genuine poet's heart and from one who has loved as fully and completely as one human can. Shah's insights on hurt and healing are especially powerful. The reader is offered a first-hand account and portrayal of what it is to love entirely and nonetheless have a heart shattered and rejected. Still, despite the sorrow that runs deep in these sections, the true triumphant is the healing that Shah promises the reader. So delicately, his words wrap around the reader's heart and pull back the curtain of despair to reveal the coming sunlight of a new day and new love. Bringing the reader full circle, Shah closes The Phases of Loves on a crescendo that will dwell in the reader's mind, heart, and soul long after the book has been closed.

Marston, Rivalry, Rapprochement, and Jonson by Charles Cathcart Book Summary:

Significant and unexplored signs of John Marston's literary rivalry with Ben Jonson are investigated here by Charles Cathcart. The centrepiece of the book is its argument that the anonymous play The Family of Love, sometimes attributed to Thomas Middleton and sometimes to Lording Barry, was in part the work of John Marston, and that it constitutes a whimsical statement of amity with Jonson. The book concerns itself with material rarely or never viewed as part of the "Poets' War" (such as the mutual attempted cuckoldings of The Insatiate Countess and the Middle Temple performance of Twelfth Night) rather than with texts (like Satiromastix and Poetaster) long considered in this light.

Shakespeare, Sex, and Love by Stanley Wells Book Summary:

How does Shakespeare's treatment of human sexuality relate to the sexual conventions and language of his times? Pre-eminent Shakespearean critic Stanley Wells draws on historical and anecdotal sources to present an illuminating account of sexual behaviour in Shakespeare's time, particularly in Stratford-upon-Avon and London. He demonstrates what we know or can deduce of the sex lives of Shakespeare and members of his family. He also provides a fascinating account of depictions of sexuality in the poetry of the period and suggests that at the time Shakespeare was writing most of his non-dramatic verse a group of poets catered especially for readers with homoerotic tastes. The second part of Shakespeare, Sex, - and Love focuses on the variety of ways in which Shakespeare treats sexuality in his plays and at how he relates sexuality to love. Wells shows that Shakespeare's attitude to sex developed over the course of his writing career, and devotes whole chapters to 'The Fun of Sex' - to how he raises laughter out of the matter of sex in both the language and the plotting of some of his comedies; portrayals of sexual desire; to Romeo and Juliet as the play in which Shakespeare focuses most centrally on issues relating to sex, love, and the relationship between them; to sexual jealousy, traced through four major plays; 'Sexual Experience'; and 'Whores and Saints'. A final chapter, 'Just Good Friends' examines Shakespeare's rendering of same-gender relationships.

Kingship and Love in Scottish Poetry, 1424–1540 by Joanna Martin Book Summary:

Looking at late medieval Scottish poetic narratives which incorporate exploration of the amorousness of kings, this study places these poems in the context of Scotland's repeated experience of minority kings and a consequent instability in governance. The focus of this study is the presence of amatory discourses in poetry of a political or advisory nature, written in Scotland between the early fifteenth and the mid-sixteenth century. Joanna Martin offers new readings of the works of major figures in the Scottish literature of the period, including Robert Henryson, William Dunbar, and Sir David Lyndsay. At the same time, she provides new perspectives on anonymous texts, among them The Thre Prestis of Peblis and King Hart, and on the works of less well known writers such as John Bellenden and William Stewart, which are crucial to our understanding of the literary culture north of the Border during the period under discussion.
